Motherhood sessions with young children are anything but predictable and you have to learn to adjust and reframe depending on the mood of the little ones and the environment that you're in. 

One of those factors was the harsh light we had to work with at high noon. Typically, noon is never a time you'll find me shooting outside. But sometimes as photographers, we don't get to choose our idea lighting. This is a great time to grow and stretch your creative muscles. 

Some tips for harsh lighting:

• Find the open shade (little areas where the light is filtered through trees and objects, removing the harsh shadows from your subject. 
• Adjust your ISO and Shutter Speed. For harsh light I keep my ISO at 100 and I'm not afraid to raise my shutter speed-sometimes upward of 2000. This helps get rid of any unnecessary brightness. 
• Angles. Don't be afraid to move around and adjust your camera angle to accommodate the directionality of the light.
