In-home sessions are my jam. 

I know I shouldn't choose favorites. But If I had to it would be the lifestyle in-home sessions I am able to do in Huntsville and Madison Alabama. 

There's something about capturing your family in your own environment that makes your images oh so special! Seeing you interact with your family in such authentic ways as happens when I'm  in the home is priceless. 

So how do you prepare for an in home session? How is it different from an outdoor lifestyle session? When should you plan for this awesome experience?

Here are a few tips and ideas that may get you started :

1. Think of some activities that are special for you and your family. What does a lazy Saturday look like in your home? Is baking a huge part of who you are? Are board games a common thread in your family quilt? Keeping this authentic to your family will create images that you absolutely cherish.

2. Wardrobe: One of the beautiful things about an in-home session is that there is more flexibility in your styling and it can be a little more relaxed. For lifestyle having simple neutrals that compliment each other and don't distract from the home's colors and decors is best. As always, matching is never needed. Keep it relaxed and keep it comfy. For true documentary style (a day in the life sessions) you truly have freedom to dress as each member would any other day of the week. If we found you at home, what would you be wearing? The goal of these sessions is really to document your family exactly as they are. 

3. Lighting. Think of the time of day that your house is flooded with the most natural light. This is generally between 9-2 for most houses, but each house is unique. The more natural light the more flexibility for capturing different spots and angles within your home. 

4. Plan in advance. Don't miss the chance to work with your favorite photographer. Most photographers tend to book at least a season in advance. You want to allow time for the two of you to really dream and plan and make sure your dream for the session is able to happen as you envision it.
