Family sessions in Huntsville, Alabama can be such an amazing experience.

But amazing family photoshoots don't happen by accident.

There are so many things I could share about this family session!

But for now I'll share three things to help you can have a session this magical with your own beautiful crew.

STEP 1: Be present and enjoy your family. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your family.

i can't say it enough.

This session isn't about having perfect children with the perfect look-at-the-camera-and-smile behavior.

This session is about your children being able to look back and remember that you were there.

That you were present.

That you laughed with them, held them, loved them fiercely.

That's the why. IG is not the why-your family is the why.

So when it feels a little out of sorts, when it seems that they are just being wild and " we aren't getting anything good" just smile. Relax those neck muscles mama, release the furrowed brow and just breathe. A great photographer can handle the rest and create the art. You just need to take this hour an soak in the memories with your people.

STEP 2: Trust your photographer to guide you in styling and location

I guess that's technically 2 things ,haha. But the elements of a session outside of the amazing people in it play a crucial role in having images like these.

Photos like these don't just happen.

They are carefully curated and all of the tiny details thought out.

Light, textures, color palette, movement: all key elements that work to enhance your session. We want the star of the show to be your family and that means limiting distractions such as poor lighting or overpowering wardrove.

This is personally one of my favorite parts to planning your session and I'm happy to do it for my clients. This particular session was 100% styled from my client closet (minus the boys:). Let's play around and find what fits best for your family while also complimenting your session.

STEP 3: Invest in someone you trust

Photography is just that.

An investment.

There are so many photographers to choose from and it can be hard to navigate where to begin.

Portfolio, reviews and your interaction with them online are a great place to start.

Beautiful photography is so much more than the click of a shutter. It's an entire experience.

You are allowing someone in your intimate space, with your most treasured people.

Be sure it is someone you feel you can connect with and relate to. Someone you'd enjoy sitting down to a cup of coffee with.

Be sure it is someone you can trust be invested in you.

It can be tempting to go for a "good bargain" but in the end, these images have the potential to fill the walls and the memories of your children over time and that deserves the very best.
