Jordan and her family's
Huntsville, Alabama Outdoor Maternity Session
This family wanted an outdoor session that felt natural and laid back. Mama needed a location that would be easy to access, and both parents love the outdoors. We chose this Huntsville location that is right off the road and has the wild appearance this sweet family was looking for.
They chose to dance in the rain.
When the day of this session came, it was drizzling. Huntsville gets a lot of rain and parts of it get very, very wet. My client and I were both worried that the skies would open up and ruin our photographs.
We decided to go for it, and I'm so glad we did!
The overcast sky provided the perfect lighting and, as it turns out, rainy days are mama's favorite.
Come and Play
I love including kids in maternity sessions. These sweet little ones loved playing in the field, making a simple blanket into a cape and chasing dad around in circles.
Little Miss Personality
This little one took some planning to dress. Mom didn't have anything she loved for this session and gave me free reign to plan her photoshoot wardrobe.
I went with a deep green plaid dress with bloomer underneath and a skirt that flared out. Her knit bonnot and knee-high socks added texture and kept her cozy while she toddled through the meadow.
Sometimes it's hard to warm up during a photography session.
Especially when a change like having a baby is happening, children can feel shy in front of the camera and cling to mom. In a maternity photography session, that makes my job even easier: I get personality and hugs for mama all at once!
I love this maternity session.
I love it because they embraced the rain. I love how they allowed their kids to relax and be themselves. I love how maternity photography captures the special connections not only between mama and baby, but also between all the members of the family.
