Ten Must-Take Family Photos You'll Treasure Forever

Are you hoping to take some quick fall photos but aren't sure how to encourage your family into those cute, unposed poses?

Well consider this your guide. Let's explore ten must-take photo ideas to get those candid shots!

1. Group Portrait

Let's start with the obvious: get everyone together and take some group pics!

Instead of just sitting and smiling, loosen up. Let your kids be a little silly. Tell a joke. Find somewhere fun, like a set of stairs, to help you get playful with group shots.

A family of five stands together with the young son on his father's shoulders and the youngest daughter on her mother's back.

2. On the Go

Go for an adventure! If you're outside, check out the woods or explore a field. If you're in a downtown setting, go for a walk together. Movement leads to the best pictures!

3. Let Personalities Shine

Those goofy moments don't have to be a frustrating distraction. Instead, let them highlight the personalities in your family. Silly faces and wiggly dances can make for some adorable memories.

4. Side-By-Side

Line those kids up! Walk across a road, race, reach for something high...you get the idea. As your kiddos grow, you'll be able to look back and see the differences in height and how they changed over time.

5. Siblings

Once again, these don't have to be perfectly posed. Instead, let your kids interact in a natural and playful way. The goal is to capture their relationship just as it is.

6. Unforgettable Details

Of course you're here for family pictures, but don't forget the details you'll want to remember. The relative sizes of your hands, the little wrinkles and folds, and tiny fingers are too precious to overlook.

7. The Magic of Play

That's it. Just play. Make up games, make faces, do a dance, or even play hide and seek. Enjoy each other and it will come across in your photos.

8. Mommy and Me

Looking back at these pictures over the years and seeing your kids grow is the whole point. Pull them in close and grab those photos!

9. And dad too!

Don't forget that daddy! Pull him in and make sure you catch those sweet moments with the kids.

10. Mom and Dad

Don't forget you and your spouse. In the chaos of kids, it's easy to overlook the relationship that started it all, but you are the heart of your family. Make sure you take the time to commemorate YOU.
