Rocket City is full of fun, family-friendly activities throughout the summer. Whether you are looking for a hike, a downtown walk, or a day indoors to stay cool, Huntsville has something for you.
After years of living here in Rocket City, I've found there's never a dull moment in the summer months.
Huntsville might be a small town but our downtown offers far more than meets the eye.
Big Spring Park on it's own offers long walking trails along canals and a pond. Feed the ducks and koi, or sit in the gazebo to read a book.
After you play, stroll over to Pan E Vino Pizzaria or The Cozy Cow for something to eat.
Big Spring Park also has concerts on Monday nights through the summer. There is truly something for everyone!
If you're in south Huntsville, make sure to check out local mom-owned Biscuit Belly in Jones Valley. You can learn more about Wendy's story HERE.
To see how adorable downtown Huntsville is, check out these sweet family photos.
Huntsville is steeped in history and has many fun museums to explore.
The Space and Rocket Center is full of real rockets and interactive displays which make it a perfect day for kids and adults alike.
If aerospace is not your speed, check out the Huntsville Museum of Art, Burritt on the Mountain, or the Railroad Museum for a variety of fascinating North Alabama history.
For us, this is a family favorite. North Alabama is full of gorgeous parks; you're sure to find one that appeals to your senses.
For relaxing or fishing by a pond, Hay's Nature Preserve or Ditto's Landing.
For hiking and/or gorgeous views, head to Monte Sano State Park, Blevin's Gap, or Burritt on the Mountain.
For imaginative playgrounds, visit John Hunt Park or Sharon-Johnston Park.
For younger children, check out EarlyWorks Children's Museum. You'll spend hours in the various playscapes and your kids will go home tired.
If you're looking for a varied afternoon, South Huntsville Public Library has a wonderful children's section, a coffee shop, and a playground just next door.
If you're tired of run-of-the-mill playgrounds, head to Hay's Nature Preserve and it's expansive play area full of ramps, boardwalks, seesaws, sand pits, and bridges.
And while you're at it, visit the large field at Hay's where these beautiful photos were taken.
Stick with me folks! I know your backyard probably doesn't feel dramatic enough for family photos (or, if you're like my family, feels entirely too dramatic).
Your backyard is where your kids are growing up. This is the area they play in every day, where they build imaginary castles and go on little adventures.
Your backyard is full of memories, and that makes it perfect for family photos.
If you are a North Alabama local, I'd love to show you how beautiful backyard photos can be.
Can I still book fresh 48, newborn, and maternity sessions?
Yes! These sessions are always open for booking.
I've seen photos of a greenhouse. Can I book a session there?
Reach out and let's chat! The greenhouse is available for short sessions this summer.
My backyard is small. Will it work for a backyard session?
You'd be surprised how little space I need to make magic! You and your family are the focus not the yard itself, so we can make whatever you have work.
What about pricing?
You can read more about investment by clicking here.
I'm ready to book! What's my next step?
We have received your message and will contact you shortly
