I know, I know, it's hard to think about fall when it's still roughly 1,000 degrees outside, but hear me out.
Fall zips by so fast: school starting, Labor Day weekend, fall break, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas...whoops, went too far into Christmas.
And that's how fall feels. It's gone before you know it, and I don't want you to miss it! So join me as I tell you about why I love this specific fall session, and I bet by the end you'll be ready to book your family's spot!
This sweet family leaned into the natural shades of fall: deep green, pops of red, and warm brown.
When we hear "wear neutrals," I think we worry the colors will look drab or boring.
These wardrobe choices are great examples of how neutrals complement one another while leaving the family's faces and personalities to shine.
They look like they belong in their natural setting, and that makes for beautifully balanced pictures.
Let's state the obvious: the sunlight in these photos is to die for. Timing was key here, as well as location scouting.
Knowing where and when to be is key if you want that perfect golden hour lighting. The setting sun behind the family fills the shots with instant warmth and makes the entire session glow.
It's true in real estate, and it can absolutely be true in photography. This specific location was excellent for multiple reasons.
First, obviously, the scale of the background gives these photos a sense of freedom and vastness. Fall can feel like someone finally opened a window after the oppressive heat of summer. The expansive vista in these pictures helps translate that feeling onto the screen.
Second, the rocks and trees provide both visual interest and an outdoor playground to explore.
Finally, this location is very simple. This allows for the family to be the primary focus while still providing a natural, beautiful backdrop.
The magical feeling of fall, with the cooling air, the deep blue of the sky, and the gold of the sunlight, fills us with energy. Sometimes, this can help us open up and be a little more relaxed.
This family's relationships shone through as they danced and played on the mountain. Their enjoyment of one another leaps off the page and draws in the viewer, making us want to join them outside.
Fall family sessions are truly some of my favorites. The lighting, colors, and season combine to create some unforgettable moments. So don't let this fall pass you by without commemorating its magic. Schedule your fall family session today!
