Planning Your Next Outdoor Family Adventure Photoshoot

Have you dreamed of family photos in epic locations? Have you been somewhere recently that you thought would make a perfect backdrop? Maybe you have a special location that your family returns to over and over, one that holds its own memories and emotions. Or maybe you just love exploring the world as a family. If any of this sounds like you, an outdoor family adventure session might be perfect for you.

Imagine your family on against the backdrop of the Oregon coast, or the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Maybe your kids are adventurous and would love a beach exploration session. There are so many beautiful places to experience during your next family photoshoot. I worked with several families in Denver, Colorado this summer and I loved it. The pictures came out absolutely gorgeous. 

Okay, have I peaked your interest? Here are some tips to make this happen for your family.

  • Think about places you already like or are planning to visit. This could be a place you love but your kids haven’t seen before, or an all-together new location.
  • Consider the season. If your location gets very cold in the winter and you don’t want to be bundled up in your photos, plan to go in the warmer months.
  • Schedule well in advance (and by advance, I mean months) to bring your favorite photographer along. 
  • Remember to talk with your photographer about what it looks like for them to travel for your photoshoot.

Can’t travel far, or just want the adventure without the long trip? There is adventure right here in Northern Alabama. Within a few hours from Huntsville, there are so many beautiful waterfalls, parks, hikes, and other hidden gems. You don’t have to go far for adventure!

Kristina Proffitt - I just love the BIG SKY and so some place in Wyoming or Montana would be SO beautiful! A dream place to live and have pictures taken!

Tara Phillips - My family and I just visited Salt Lake City, Utah and It's STUNNING. The mountains there are beautiful and we went in October so the leaves were just starting to change...absolutely breathtaking.
