Tips for a Successful In-Home Newborn Session

1. Plan Ahead

Discuss with Your Photographer: Share your hopes for the photos, as well as best times of day to accommodate your family’s routine. Make a plan together so you can go in confident and prepared!

Naps and Snacks: Set up your littles for success by making a plan to have them fed and freshly napped before your session.

2. Keep It Natural

Be Yourselves: Encourage your family to interact naturally. The goal is to capture your family's genuine emotions and connections, so don't worry too much about posing. 

3. Focus on Details

Capture the Little Things: Point out to your photographer the small details that make your family unique—the baby’s tiny toes, siblings’ hands holding the newborn, or the nursery decor.

Family Interactions: Ensure the session includes a mix of individual portraits, sibling shots, and whole family photos to capture the full range of relationships.

4. Be Patient

Allow for Flexibility: Newborns and young children can be unpredictable. Allow plenty of time for the session and be prepared for breaks.

Embrace the Chaos: Large families can be chaotic, and that’s perfectly okay. The goal is to capture your family in this moment, as you are.
